3 Ways to Stay Healthy While You Travel
I’m a travel bug…always have been and always will be.
When I travel, I also like to maintain my busy lifestyle, which can easily throw your schedule (and your health) out of whack.

So here are a few tricks and tips I’ve picked up over the years for staying healthy and maintaining some sort of regular schedule during your travels.
1. Keep germs at bay
I got a touch of a cold this trip, I’m sad to say. I’ve been chugging Emergen-C likes it’s my job in order to keep it away, and it seems to be working!
Honestly, though, whether you prefer that or AirBourne, that extra shot of Vitamin C can do wonders for your immune system. Also, don’t forget to take your regular vitamins to keep your body functioning at its best.

2. Don’t forget to eat well and exercise
A healthy diet while you travel is next to impossible. You’re going out to eat all the time, perhaps indulging in cocktails a little more than you normally would, and your exercise routine usually takes a backseat.
Here are my favorite ways to exercise on a trip:
- Make time for exercise everyday. Whether it’s a walk or an actual weight lifting session, be sure to make the time.
- Plan ahead by bringing what you need. If I’m driving when I travel, I always make sure I have my yoga mat and tennis shoes with me at all times. That way, I can do an impromptu run or yoga session on the go!
- Find exercises online (my favorite are Women’s Health and Self Magazines) that you don’t need any equipment for so that you can do them wherever and whenever!
Here are my favorite ways to eat well on a trip:
- Pack food for everywhere you go. My go-to’s are a box of power bars and a bag of apples.
- When you travel, it’s easy to miss out on your veggies. When you do go out to eat, make sure that you get a salad and up your veggie intake!
- Drink plenty of water. My favorite trick is keeping a few gallon jugs of spring water in my car or wherever I am so that I can easily fill up my reusable water bottle.
3. Sleep, sleep, sleep!
Losing sleep is probably how I had this cold come on, so make sure that – if nothing else – you get your 8 hours every night. Running all over the place, your body needs rest and a solid sleep session is the only true way to get it.
If you’re a nap person, naps are also a fantastic way to catch those Z’s.
