5 Ways to Create a Workout Routine to Fit Your Busy Lifestyle
I get it. It’s not easy fitting exercise in when you’re already busy.
But when you start making fitness a priority, it’s going to benefit your life in more ways than simply trimming your waistline.
Here are 5 ways to create a workout routine that will fit your busy lifestyle.
1. Move in the morning.
For many busy moms and those who have to be up and at ’em to work early, morning workouts end up being the best way to infuse exercise into your day. By setting the alarm just 30-45 minutes earlier, you’ll be able to get your workout checked off your list for the day.
Not only will you be able to enjoy the rest of the day without having to worry about going to the gym after work, there are benefits correlated with working out in the morning, including kickstarting your metabolism first thing.
2. Take the little ones with you
Human moms and dog moms alike feel the guilt of taking time away from little ones to get exercise. If that’s you, why not take them with you?! Take your kids or your dogs on a walk or run with you or take them to the park and play with them.
You’ll get bonus benefits here too. By taking your dog(s) with you, they’ll get some exercise, which is – of course – great for them. Even if your kids are in the stroller while you take a walk or jog, they’ll still get to see that Mommy prioritizes fitness and helps give them a healthier outlook on life.
3. Work out at home
One of my favorite ways to create a manageable workout schedule, I’ve been working out at home for years, and 100% for over a year now.
Not only do you not need to worry about a gym commute, you’ll also be in the comfort of your own home, with access to workouts on the TV if those feel right for you. It also doesn’t take much to build up the equipment you’ll need to for home workouts.
4. Make a lifestyle change
If working out regularly isn’t part of your everyday schedule, it’s not a habit yet. Be patient with yourself as you start incorporating it to your way of life and know that it’s less of a chore to add to your to-do list and more of a habit change.
5. Grab a partner
For many, having fitness accountability means having a workout partner. So grab your best friend, gym buddy, or life partner and keep each other on track by working out together a few times per week.
Not only will you gain quality time with that person, but you’ll also likely push yourself a little harder than if you were working out on your own. You’re also far less likely to ditch a workout when you have a partner relying on you as well as motivating you!
