Check off one thing at a time
I love my lists, but sometimes they can be a little overwhelming. So what’s the fix? Choose one thing and check it off your list. Just one thing at a time will help you get ahead of the game – which, for a procrastinator – is pretty unusual!
Sometimes, it’s best to do the most difficult thing or the one you really don’t want to do, first.
Remove your distractions
Working from home it’s easy to get distracted with other things – chores, TV, my dog, the beach – so I remove it all. I go to a wifi cafe and focus.
If your job isn’t online, that may mean you need to stay away from web distractions. Apps like this can help increase productivity by blocking social media sites after a certain time spent on them.
Stop trying to be a perfectionist
Apparently, one of the reasons people are procrastinators is also because they are perfectionists. Irony.
What’s the fix? Stop thinking you can be perfect all the time. Easier said than done, obviously, but that’s really what it boils down to.
