Look How Far You’ve Come

My friend said that to me the other night: “look how far we’ve come”.

It got me to thinking how often we get stuck on all of the things we have left to do, want to do, need to do that we forget all of the moments we’ve had, experiences we’ve enjoyed, and all that we’ve accomplished already.

Stop a minute and take an inventory of your life so far.

Look how far you’ve come.

Maybe you bought your first car.

Maybe you bought your first house. And then your second house.

But those are just things.

Maybe you graduated high school and college and were the first to do that in your family.

Maybe you landed your first job.

Maybe you learned to play the guitar.

Maybe you went sky diving or ran a marathon.

Maybe you took a cross country trip around the US.

Think of all those experiences.

Maybe you have kids…a dog…a goldfish.

Maybe you’ve been happy…maybe you’ve been sad.

Maybe you’ve made a difference in the lives around you.

And now we’re talking.

Ready to create harmony in your busy life?

Live every moment to the fullest…and appreciate it all.

I think it’s important to take a step back, maybe every day, maybe more than once every day and just…appreciate. Appreciate all you’ve accomplished and appreciate what you’ve learned from it all. And then turn around, move forward, and appreciate every single second.

Never let a moment pass without living your life to the fullest and appreciating every second of it; especially amidst all of the bitter reminders around us.

A story that should inspire us all

It’s a hard thing to do, so perhaps this will help inspire you. I know it did for me.

This is the story of Zach Sobiech, a 17 year old diagnosed with cancer and the artist behind “Clouds”, a video that took YouTube by storm.

SoulPancake did a story on Zach and, while it’s long, it’s completely 110% worth the watch.

Then, they went out and did something even more amazing: they created a celebrity recreation of Zach’s video.

It’s a touching rendition, but Zach’s response and his story were even more touching.

You can tell what an amazing human being he was and he can teach us what we all tend to forget: how important it is to never let a moment slip by without truly living it.

Recently, Zach passed away, but left a legacy. Make a donation in his name.
