Halloween is almost here and that means it’s time to start thinking about – you guessed it! – Christmas.
Every year, it feels like the holiday season sneaks up on us…then is here and gone before we know it.
One thing that really sneaks up? Getting that holiday card out. So let’s make each other a promise: don’t let your Christmas card be the last thing on your to-do list this year.
Here’s how to choose the perfect holiday card with five simple steps.
1. Timing is key.
The holidays come quickly each year and, if you’re like me, it’s easy to start thinking about getting your Christmas cards out only after the Thanksgiving cooking craze is over. That means your Christmas list won’t receive their card until after New Years Eve!
Instead, let this be your reminder to get started on your cards now so that you don’t have to worry about them later. In fact, try using the break between Halloween and Thanksgiving to get your photo together (that’s what we’re doing this year!) and order holiday cards online.
2. Get the best price.
For many of us, one of the biggest reasons we choose a holiday card is because of the price. Many card companies will offer various discounts leading up to the holiday season, so it’s important to grab yours fast. (In general, I notice the closer to Christmas it gets, the more expensive they become.)
Also, the more cards you buy, the less you pay per card. Look for other free (and unique) features, like customization and labeling.
3. Choose the right design.
One of the other big factors in choosing the right holiday card for your family is the design, messaging, and coloring. There’s a lot to look for with the right card design: from the family photo you want to use to the holiday(s) you celebrate to the styling you like.
I like to start with the image(s) I want to use for that year. I usually have a few favorites that I can choose from and that really helps narrow down the card options based on a) the designs that appeal to me and b) the colors that go well. That’s where you can start to customize!
4. Make it custom.
Speaking of custom: you know how similar holiday cards tend to start looking after awhile. You’re spending the time, energy, and money on them, so why not help them stand out a little more? This year, make the holidays truly special with custom Christmas cards.
One easy way to customize? Your colors. Color options don’t affect my card choice nearly as much as they used to thanks to Basic Invite’s almost unlimited color options. With these, you can instantly preview over 180 colors for the perfect family holiday card!
I also love that you can order a printed sample of your holiday party invites or holiday cards in advance to see what they’re going to look/feel like. (I ordered some gorgeous samples and had them within a few days!)
5. Keep addressing easy.
If you’ve ever written out individual addresses by hand on your envelopes, you know how time consuming it can be. Keep things simple by having your recipient addresses printed on the envelopes at no cost from Basic Invite.
What’s more is Basic Invite offers an address capturing service that allows customers to share a link on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other social media to request their friends and family’s addresses. Or, if you have your list already, you can simply upload it. What can be more simple than that?!
