Once you hit “publish” on your website, you’re not quite done. After all, just because you built it, doesn’t mean they’ll come. (In other words, just because you wrote a blogpost, doesn’t mean you’ll automatically get readers.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do you get more eyes on each blogpost? <\/strong>You can take some steps to market your blogpost, so the biggest potential group of people see it and read it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Start small with one or two of the steps below, then continue to add more as you get comfortable. Over time, you’ll create blog marketing habits each and every time you publish a post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Follow these 7 steps each time you publish a post. This will help you reach more people, engage with them, and, ultimately, get more results from your blog.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, what are these 7 steps? Keep reading to find out!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. SEND AN INCREDIBLE EMAIL<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Your email list should be full of people who are genuinely interested in you and the content you create. They want<\/em> to hear from you, but aren’t necessarily checking your blog for new posts each week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You need to tell them about your new posts and email is a great way to do it! Send out a simple email (I send one out every Saturday – don’t miss ’em!<\/a>) every time you publish a blogpost and you’ll start increasing your traffic in no time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. SHARE ON SOCIAL MEDIA<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Don’t assume your social media connections will notice a new post either. Share, share, share!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Create unique, eye catching graphics for your post on a program like Canva and share on all the networks you’re on \u2014 Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and so on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, don’t forget about channels like Pinterest. Create 5 – 10 pins for each blogpost and schedule them out for searchers to see. (Since Pinterest is an excellent search engine, you’ll get a ton of traffic from a well-placed blogpost.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. ANSWER QUESTIONS<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

From Quora to Reddit to Linked or Facebook Groups you’re already part of, there are plenty of places to get involved in the conversation and answer questions that you’re an expert on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The better news: <\/strong>focus on the questions that you answer directly with your blogpost (and link to it!). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bonus news: <\/strong>you can reverse engineer this by creating a blogpost based<\/em> on the questions you see people asking (then go back and link to the post in your answer).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. COLLABORATE<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Continuously build a strong network of colleagues in your niche \u2014\u00a0maybe they do exactly what you do, or maybe it’s just<\/em> similar enough. Either way, there’s room for collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether you create blog content for them (as a guest post), ask them to create guest content for you, or collaborate in another way, there’s plenty of opportunities to gain exposure to another blogger’s audience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use recent posts as proof that the collaboration is a good fit for both parties by sharing them with your colleagues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. CREATE BACKLINKS<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Don’t forget that you’ve already created phenomenal blog content in the past. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Link to it throughout your new post as you write. Then, go back (when applicable) and link to your newest post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will help search engines see your new post quicker and help searchers get the information they’re looking for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. FRESHEN UP CONTENT <\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Fresh and up-to-date content will help Google see that you have relevant information on your blog. You can freshen up old content in a number of ways: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25b7 As you link to old posts with applicable information, update any old images, calls-to-actions, or information. (This is one of my favorites and I’ve already done that to every post you see linked here!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25b7 Instead of creating a new post, you can also freshen up an old post. Update imagery or screenshots, freshen up the title to something more interesting, update keywords for underperforming posts, and even update the publish date for a newer look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25b7 Regularly review content to see what can be updated and what can be discarded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. WATCH THE DATA<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Last, but certainly not least, it’s important to closely analyze your post data with Google Analytics. (This is how you’ll find out what’s working and what isn’t.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How often should you check your Analytics? Try to get in a habit of reviewing your Analytics data each month. That way, you can get a good picture of what went well and what needs improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, don’t forget to make <\/em>those changes!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
