There are plenty of reasons<\/del> excuses not to blog. Whether you\u2019re just starting and don\u2019t know what to do or find that you don\u2019t have enough time or nothing to write about, blogging can be overwhelming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Making excuses isn\u2019t the answer. Start with a strategy and combat the excuses you\u2019re making. After all, a blog could be the best long-term strategy for your business<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are 5 reasons<\/del> excuses you\u2019re not blogging.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. \u201cI don\u2019t know where to start.\u201d<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When you first decide to blog, it\u2019s overwhelming. Take a moment to move past that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ready to move on? Ok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you blog, it\u2019s alright to just start writing. Write about anything and everything. Start brainstorming your heart out. Whether you\u2019re nervous or uncomfortable about writing, usually just sitting down and starting to type will push you past that initial hesitation. If you are still have a tough time, check #5 below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the problem is that you just don\u2019t know about what to write about, move onto #3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. \u201cThere\u2019s not enough time.\u201d<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This one is a true excuse. There is always enough time\u2026as long as you make it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only way you can create time is on your own terms. For some, spending a few hours on a Saturday or Sunday will take care of blogging for the next week or two. For others, 15 minutes a day<\/a> will do the trick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you get going, blogging will become a habit and the time to put together a post will take less and less time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve written for plenty of industries that are not in the least bit \u201csexy\u201d; in other words, not the world\u2019s most interesting content. There\u2019s always a way to create content that your audience will love<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Try taking the tid-bits of information you give your clients or potential clients everyday with something like FAQ posts<\/a>. Or how about a 2-minute talking head video answering a question or sharing a helpful tip? Top 10 lists or bulleted lists are another great way to share information and get people to click.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The point is: the ability to create content is endless; you just need to get a little creative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. \u201cMy audience won\u2019t like what I\u2019m writing.\u201d<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s a secret for you: not everyone is paying attention to you and your blog. Even if you\u2019re using social media or other outlets to publish your content, not everyone is clicking and reading. I mention that because many new bloggers get nervous about the spotlight on them. Don\u2019t worry\u2026the spotlight doesn\u2019t turn on right away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A blog is very much an experiment. You\u2019ll find some posts that you think are great don\u2019t get a lot of clicks or perform well on the search engines; while others that you didn\u2019t think were all that great end up being your best performers. And that\u2019s ok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Learn and measure as much as you can. Continue doing what\u2019s working and stop (or alter) what isn\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. \u201cI don\u2019t like to\/want to write.\u201d<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This is less of an excuse and more of a real reason not to blog. If you truly don\u2019t enjoy writing for your blog and don\u2019t want to\u2026outsource it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Find a rockstar writer either in-house who enjoys to write and understands the industry or hire a professional blogger<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Either way, a blog will establish your company as the expert in your field and is a powerful long-term marketing strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
