I don\u2019t believe anyone should partake in anything \u2013 whether it\u2019s a blog, social media, etc. \u2013 unless it\u2019s going to be worthwhile in the long run. Because, let\u2019s face it\u2026<strong>time is money<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, while 90% of businesses out there would benefit from a blog,&nbsp;<strong>there are three major circumstances when having a blog is just a waste of time.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img src=\"https:\/\/nickiong.com\/app\/uploads\/2021\/01\/stressful-blogging-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-95\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2>1. If you aren\u2019t going to post regularly<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>By naming something a \u201cblog\u201d, you are insinuating that updates to it will be relatively frequent. Posts don\u2019t need to be published once a day, or even once a week. Ideally, however, there should be a minimum of at least one post a month. If that is too much of a time commitment for you, then simply name that section of your website something else, like \u201cNews\u201d or \u201cArticles\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To take it a step further, think of \u201cblogs\u201d you\u2019ve been on where the last post was from 6 months ago, or worse \u2013 over a year ago! Perhaps it\u2019s just me, but I start to lose a little faith in that company. The takeaway:&nbsp;<strong>don\u2019t be the site with the abandoned blog!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<script async=\"\" data-uid=\"0bb705444b\" src=\"https:\/\/nickiong.ck.page\/0bb705444b\/index.js\"><\/script>\n<br>\n\n\n\n<h2>2. If each post isn\u2019t its own page<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve seen a lot of blogs that are a one-page stream of consciousness. In other words, each post appears one right after the other, with no way to view just a single post.&nbsp;This is bad for two reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You\u2019re totally losing out on the SEO benefit<\/strong>&nbsp;of having a blog. When each post has its own page, think of all the opportunity you have for optimizing each page for specific terms in your posts. The more blogposts you create over time, the more opportunity you\u2019re creating to capture potential customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You\u2019re not helping your readers<\/strong>. Let\u2019s say by some miracle my Google search lands me on your blog page. More than likely, the post I\u2019m trying to find is going to be hidden amongst all of your other posts. Do you think I\u2019m going to spend the time to find that post if I\u2019m the average searcher? Probably not\u2026I\u2019ve already left your site for one where I can easily find the answer I\u2019m looking for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ensure that each of your posts are able to be viewed as individual pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>3. If you are just going to be salesy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Blogs, by their very nature, are meant to be resourceful. Sure, you can throw a \u201clook how awesome we are\u201d post in every once in a while.&nbsp;But the real goal? Share the information your audience needs in order to eventually convert them to customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The reality is\u2026if potential customers aren\u2019t getting the information from you, they\u2019ll find it elsewhere. So\u2026be&nbsp;<em><strong>the&nbsp;go-to source<\/strong><\/em><strong>&nbsp;<em>in your industry<\/em><\/strong>. That way, when potential customers need your product or service, they\u2019ll come to you first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group wp-block-post-footer\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column\"><div class=\"wp-block-author-meta\">\n  <div class=\"wp-block-author-meta__image-wrap\">\n
