I\u2019ve been saying the exact same thing for over 10 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img src=\"https:\/\/nickiong.com\/app\/uploads\/2021\/03\/saleswoman-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-534\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The reality? We\u2019re selling when we don\u2019t even realize it. We\u2019re selling when we talk to friends of friends about our business. We\u2019re selling when we donate money to charity and talk to them about our business. We\u2019re selling when we teach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re&nbsp;<em>always<\/em>&nbsp;selling and we don\u2019t always realize it. So how about we flip this negative view of sales on its head? Here\u2019s how to be a better salesperson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>10 Tips for Becoming a Better Salesperson<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3>1.&nbsp;Build leads.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s stop thinking of building leads in the traditional sense, shall we? That means your sales process should go beyond your marketing efforts. Use your previous clients,&nbsp;education, and more to engage your potential leads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>2. Be persistent.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Your leads aren\u2019t going to convert overnight. Think about the last time you bought a product or service \u2013 how long did it take you to make the plunge? Did you check reviews, do your homework, and follow the company for a while before you actually bought?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>3. Differentiate yourself.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>No successful business is successful without being different. Show your customers how you stand out and why they should choose&nbsp;<em>you<\/em>&nbsp;over the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>4. Be direct.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Business is business. Don\u2019t beat around the bush when it comes to what you offer; especially when it comes to pricing. We see a lot of business owners who have a difficult time with being up front and confident with their pricing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>5. Be yourself.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Part of what inherently sets your business apart is\u00a0<em>you<\/em>. Show off who you are and share your story. Potential customers who align with your story with be that much more likely to want to work with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<script async=\"\" data-uid=\"9a4e83d7d9\" src=\"https:\/\/nickiong.ck.page\/9a4e83d7d9\/index.js\"><\/script>\n<br>\n\n\n\n<h3>6. Educate your community.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the most successful entrepreneurs we see are such because they educate their community. Whether you offer e-courses, books, webinars, blogposts, email newsletters, talks, etc., educate your community so they not only know&nbsp;<em>you<\/em>&nbsp;are the go-to expert, but so they get a taste of what you offer \u2013 and end up wanting more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>7. Never stop learning.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When you\u2019re an expert in your field, you should never stop learning about it yourself. No matter how long you\u2019ve been in business, there\u2019s&nbsp;<em>always<\/em>&nbsp;more to learn or a new technology or finding to figure out. Stay on top of your industry by&nbsp;<em>always&nbsp;<\/em>learning more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>8. Stop cold calling.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When is the last time you converted a customer after hours of cold calling? Our guess is it\u2019s been a while \u2013 or if you did, it took hours and hours to get a customer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s a very real example of why cold calling is so dangerous. What do you charge per hour? Multiply that by the number of hours it took you to convert a customer.&nbsp;<em>That\u2019s<\/em>&nbsp;how much you just paid for that client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>9. Always be networking.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>No matter who you\u2019re talking to about your business \u2013 whether it\u2019s your cousin or the CEO of a major corporation \u2013 always think of the opportunity as a networking one. Remember: you\u2019re always selling, but you\u2019re also yourself. Network (and sell) in your own unique way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>10. Do phenomenal work.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When your product or service speaks for itself, it&nbsp;will also sell itself.
