27 Things I’ve Learned in the Last 27 Years
With my 27th birthday nearly a month behind me, I’d like to think getting older is getting wiser.
With that, here are 27 things I’ve learned over the past 27 years.

- Life is too short to sweat the small stuff. Try not to stress about the things that won’t matter in a day, a month, or even a year.
- Regrets will only hold you back and keep you thinking about the “what if’s.” So don’t cry over spilt milk.
- Tell everyone you love that you love them…and often.
- And on that note…never go to bed angry.
- Spend the time you need to figure out what you want to do with your life. Just because other people figure it out in a matter of moments doesn’t mean you need to.
- Meet new people and do something nice for a stranger. You don’t have to be best friends, but it’s nice to know we’re all here for one another.
- Volunteer and give back.
- Step out of your comfort zone and try things you’ve never done before.
- Take risks…in life, in love, and everything you do.
- Explore the world. There’s way more out there than your own little town.
- Make deep and long lasting friendships with kindred spirits.
- Never forget about your family – you can’t pick them, but they’ll always be there for you. Make sure you pick up the phone and call them!
- Do everything you do whole heartedly and passionately.
- Be willing to fire friends who are only bringing negativity to your life.
- Explore the richness of other cultures through music, art, theater, etc.
- Stop making excuses.
- Treat every day as if it was your last.
- Keep everything in perspective.
- Do things that make you happy everyday.
- And here’s the kicker: allow yourself to be happy.
- Be willing to accept yourself for who you are so that you can share that amazingness with others.
- Be self-aware – of your health, your happiness, your anixety level, of everything.
- Do things to make your body healthy and your mind healthy.
- Go on adventures. Try taking the long way on a journey instead of the short path.
- You’ll be rewarded by the positivity you put out in the world. Always keep your glass half full.
- Use your creative outlets…and often. You’ll be happy you did.
- Be silly. Laugh. Have fun. Never lose the kid in you.
