3 Ways to Cultivate Better Friendships
Next to family and your significant other, your friendships are the most important – if not the most important – relationships you’ll have in your life.
Cultivating several strong friendships will mean far more in the long run than many meaningless friendships.
Like any relationship, though, friendships take work. Here are 3 important ways to cultivate those relationships for the long haul.

1. Be genuine
Nothing will sour a friendship faster than lying and being fake. So…be genuine with your friends.
Show them the real you; if they don’t like the real you, then too bad for them. Find better friends who will appreciate you for being you.
With your close friends, share all that is you. Nothing bonds us better as humans than sharing all that we are with each other. It humanizes us and makes it possible to be that much closer with one another.

2. Give a crap
A true friend shares and a true friend cares.
Giving a crap means that you’re there when a friend needs you or simply wants to talk.
It means listening — not just hearing — what they’re saying when they speak to you. It means anticipating their needs and doing nice things for them.
f3. Make sure it’s mutual
Like any relationship, a one-sided one is unhealthy and unfair to the one who puts in more effort. If you have any one-sided relationships in your life, do the healthy thing: cut ties and save yourself the future stress and unnecessary effort.
No one said you have to be best friends with everyone, so if it’s better to be mere acquaintances with certain people…then do it!
