How to Find the Thing That Calms Your Soul

I’m constantly on the search for ways to better deal with stressanxiety, and insecurity.

I believe it’s truly important to consistently become a better person every day of your life. That way, you can look back and know that, even though you weren’t perfect, you did the best job you could.

Here’s how to find the thing that calms your soul.

Find your (emotional) outlet

We all need an outlet.

Whether it’s talking to a friend or family member, or meditating or seeing a therapist, or simply thinking through things during a long car ride…we all need that thing that keeps us sane.

For me, that thing is writing.

I write regularly for my clients, but writing in my journal or in this blog helps me break down and work through things that bother me, things I’ve been struggling with, or things I’ve just plain been thinking about.

By writing, I slowly figure out what is going on in my head. By writing, I can take the thing in the back of my mind that has been bothering me and actually figure out what it is and why it’s been bothering me.

Ready to create harmony in your busy life?

Find your (physical) outlet

Just like when we were kids or just as our pets need, there are plenty of physical ways to deal with stress and anxiety that will calm your soul.

I’ve found yoga (coupled with a bit of meditation) really does the trick. I’m also a huge proponent of regular weight lifting for exercise. And hey, let’s not kid ourselves, regular sex is a great outlet too.

Whatever it is – zumba, running around with the dog or your kids, swimming – make sure that you do something to make your body happy and healthy. It will do wonders for your mind and spirit.
