The One Rule I Refuse To Break

Everyone has their own personal rules – their own Code of Conduct, if you will – and each of us have that one thing we refuse to do.

It’s that one thing that, should we do it, it would break down the fundamentals of who we are. It would cause us to implode emotionally…cause us to die a little from guilt.

My one rule?

I refuse to say anything about anyone that I wouldn’t say to that person’s face.

Between social media and the ability to communicate without really communicating, passive aggressive behavior is running rampant.

More than ever before, it’s easy to talk about people behind their backs…even if it’s your friend or family.

Venting is different.

Venting is normal. We all need to do it. It can help keep us sane and help us get some things off our chest.

But being rude and talking behind someone’s back without having the guts to face them in person? That, my friend, it unacceptable.

It’s being a coward. If you have a problem with another human being, you have two choices: 1) talk to them about it, or 2) let it go. There’s no other option.

Like Mama used to tell you…if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
