Happy Earth Day: Go Ahead, Hug A Tree.
Happy Earth Day, my fellow Earthlings.
In celebration of a glorious day, I’d like to share some writing I did quite some time ago. It’s recycled – if you will – and therefore a perfect way to celebrate the day, I believe.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
It’s so easy! Why wouldn’t you?!
This reminds me of one of the cutest, goofiest, and yet most awesome songs I know is about this—literally called “The 3 R’s” by Jack Johnson. If you’ve never heard of it, here you go. You’re welcome.
Reducing the amount that you use, reusing what you can, and recycling everything and anything is really quite simple. In fact, these days, most communities offer easy way to recycle. Sadly, it’s disgusting how many pounds and pounds of paper and other recyclable material end up in the garbage.
Go green.
…or go home.
Let’s be honest when we say that the Earth isn’t going to be around forever if we continue treating it how we are.
You don’t have to (literally) hug trees to make a difference. Each of us can do our small part to keep our planet around for years to come.
Go ahead, hug a tree.
Ok, so should you choose to hug a tree, go for it. I’m reminded of my favorite (and sadly all too popular) Ghandi quote:
Be the change you wish to see in the world.
The reality is we can all really make a difference with very little impact. Here are just a few (super easy!) ways you can reduce, reuse, and recycle.
- Turn off the light or the fan when you leave a room.
- Replace your shower heads and toilets with low flow technology that uses less water.
- Donate all of your (gently used) clothing, shoes, etc.
- Use reusable cups or bottles instead of plastic water bottles.
- Recycle all electronics instead of throwing them away.
Happy Earth Day!
