How to Get Out of an “Off” Day (& Understand It’s Ok You’re Not a Superhero Today)
As women, we’re supposed to be superheroes each and every day.
We’re expected (and expect ourselves) to be “on” all the time – for our families, for our work, and for every little thing that goes on in our lives.
So what happens when we’re “off”? What happens when we’re not quite feeling ourselves?
It happens to all of us.
Maybe you’re hormonal or just woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Maybe you’re subconsciously distracted by something that’s going on in your life or you’ve just been overwhelmed lately. Maybe you’re coping with some things you didn’t even realize you needed to cope with or maybe you’re just dealing with some underlying anxiety.

Accept that you’re not yourself right now
How many times have you tried to push past the fact that you’re feeling off? Does it help you? I’m guessing not.
So the first step? Accept (always the first step) that things are little off today, and that that’s ok.
Take a moment to find out why you’re feeling off
I get it…sometimes there are too many things going on in your life and in your day to stop and smell the roses. But, I bet if you do, you’ll feel a helluva lot better.
Often, understanding why we’re feeling a little strange may help us move past it much more quickly than ignoring it entirely.
So take a few quiet moments to yourself to reflect or meditate:
- Have you had a major life change recently?
- Are you upset or frustrated about something?
- Do you have any unresolved issues that are clouding your mind?
- Is there something going on hormonally?
- How’s everything else with your body – are you feeling sick or off physically?
Move past it
You’ve accepted that you’re a little off your game and you’ve hopefully figured out the reason why.
Now it’s time to get past it.
Stop dwelling on feeling crummy and do something about it. You know you’ll feel better if you do.
Typically, changing your scenery, moving your body, or just having some “you” time will get you out of your funk and back to being a superhero. So try:
- Get outside and soak up some sunshine, go for a walk, or play with your kids
- Meditate or read a good book
- Take a bath or visit your favorite spa or nail salon
- Move your body with yoga, stretching, or your favorite exercise
Whatever you choose, the goal is to get back to feeling more like yourself. Now get back out there and get ’em, girl!
