For us, it was important to have: a gender neutral space (so we can put baby #2 in there too, eventually), a calm space for baby to sleep and Mom\/Dad to relax in, and light and bright.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>1. Start the research process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Like all great plans, one of the best places to start researching ideas for your nursery is Pinterest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Start with simple searches like \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinterest.com\/search\/pins\/?q=boy%20nursery&amp;rs=typed&amp;term_meta%5B%5D=boy%7Ctyped&amp;term_meta%5B%5D=nursery%7Ctyped\">boy nursery<\/a>\u201d or&nbsp;\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinterest.com\/search\/pins\/?q=botanical%20nursery&amp;rs=typed&amp;term_meta%5B%5D=botanical%7Ctyped&amp;term_meta%5B%5D=nursery%7Ctyped\">botanical nursery<\/a>\u201d if you know specifically the design you\u2019re after.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since I was looking for a gender neutral nursery, that\u2019s where I started.&nbsp;Once I started searching, it wasn\u2019t long until I discovered the perfect inspiration:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/nickiong.com\/app\/uploads\/2021\/04\/AkinDesignStudio_IronHorseNursery-Freshcollectedmoderndesign.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1811\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nickiong.com\/app\/uploads\/2021\/04\/AkinDesignStudio_IronHorseNursery-Freshcollectedmoderndesign.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/nickiong.com\/app\/uploads\/2021\/04\/AkinDesignStudio_IronHorseNursery-Freshcollectedmoderndesign-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/nickiong.com\/app\/uploads\/2021\/04\/AkinDesignStudio_IronHorseNursery-Freshcollectedmoderndesign-768x512.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption><em>Image credit:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.akindesignstudio.com\/blog\/iron-horse-model-nursery\">Akin Design Studio<\/a><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>From there, the keywords \u201cbotanical nursery\u201d quickly kept coming up and I was able to keep doing searches to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinterest.com\/nickiong\/oh-baby\/?eq=oh&amp;etslf=3272\">get even more inspiration<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>2. Buy products and create your dream nursery<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Now it\u2019s time to see your dream become a reality!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Start with staple furniture<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Start with the furniture and rug (if applicable) or the biggest items in the room and build around them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When it came to going after this dream look, I knew that I wanted to go as all-white as possible. That included the following staple furniture pieces:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Crib &amp; Mattress<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We went with the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wayfair.com\/baby-kids\/pdp\/carters-colby-4-in-1-convertible-crib-davv1006.html?piid=21586529\">Carter\u2019s Colby 4-in-1 Crib in white<\/a><\/strong>, since this crib is simple, modern, and can grow with our little boy as he becomes a toddler and even into teen years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This frame can become a toddler bed, day bed, and a full-size bed.&nbsp;The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2UwkilG\"><strong>Moonlight Slumber Little Dreamer mattress<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;will also grow with our little man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With these&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/goto.target.com\/c\/1396104\/78775\/2092?prodsku=53492568&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.target.com%2Fp%2Fset-of-3-28-34-x12-34-framed-leaves-decorative-wall-art-white-threshold-8482%2F-%2FA-53492568\">beautiful leaf prints<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2IDfwin\">Nanit monitor<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;above the bed, we kept the decor nice and simple here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"665\" height=\"443\" src=\"https:\/\/nickiong.com\/app\/uploads\/2021\/04\/botanical-nursery-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1813\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nickiong.com\/app\/uploads\/2021\/04\/botanical-nursery-2.jpeg 665w, https:\/\/nickiong.com\/app\/uploads\/2021\/04\/botanical-nursery-2-300x200.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 665px) 100vw, 665px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dresser<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Again, we wanted simple and white, so the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wayfair.com\/baby-kids\/pdp\/delta-children-haven-6-drawer-double-dresser-del1863.html\">Delta Haven 6-drawer dresser (White)<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;was perfect. That\u2019s topped with our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2IE6NN7\"><strong>changing pad<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/goto.target.com\/c\/1396104\/78775\/2092?prodsku=75570136&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.target.com%2Fp%2Fchanging-pad-cover-cloud-island-153-white-gray%2F-%2FA-75570136\"><strong>best changing pad cover ever<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Glider<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the best new parent investments we made? The<strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wayfair.com\/baby-kids\/pdp\/karla-dubois-soho-comfort-swivel-glider-krla1010.html\">Soho Comfort Swivel Glider&nbsp;<\/a>and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wayfair.com\/furniture\/pdp\/karla-dubois-soho-ottoman-krla1011.html?piid=19911492\">Soho Ottoman<\/a>&nbsp;(Gray)<\/strong>. Roman and I spend tons of time nursing and reading in this chair and it\u2019s super comfy for us both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Diaper Pail<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spend a little extra than you might on the Diaper Genie and get this&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2VpRMng\"><strong>Ubbi Diaper Pail<\/strong><\/a>. It fits any trash bag, so you can use the bags you normally get instead of special ones. This subtle piece is the perfect design for the room and something fun for Roman to roll around and play on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bookshelf<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A good nursery isn\u2019t complete without a bookshelf. That means that there needs to be certain items that not only match the theme of the room, but also provide help for your little one!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of our favorites were these <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2tYjn1S\">baby clothing closet dividers<\/a> and storage bins (in <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2AVX8gn\">gray<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2otUrjI\">mint<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>It\u2019s all in the details<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of the details in Roman\u2019s room were finds from Hobby Lobby and Target.
