How A Blog Will Take Your Business to the Next Level

We talk a lot about blogging and how to come up with ideas for blogging, but how will a blog take your business to the next level?

Why should you be blogging?

Establish your business as the expert.

One of the biggest reasons to blog is to establish yourself as the expert.

In business, your customers will prefer to do business with the expert. Of course there are other factors like price and quality, but establishing yourself as the expert is a critical piece of the puzzle.

With a blog, you’re creating content that shares inside information, tip and tricks, and essentially gives you opportunities to show your audience that you are the go-to expert in your niche. Trust takes time, however, so don’t think that creating a few posts will mean your phone will suddenly start ringing. Establishing yourself as an expert through a blog is a long-term strategy.

Improve your list.

An email list is an incredibly valuable marketing tool. Whether you use your list for regular email newsletters or general marketing efforts, a great list is another reason to blog.

Be sure to give readers an opportunity to sign up for your list; whether they receive blogpost updates or an email newsletter. This functionality must be built into your design and structure of your website.

Take it a step further by giving your audience an incentive to sign up. Do they get a whitepaper? A free consultation? A percentage off services? Identifying something your users will want in exchange for their email address will undoubtedly increase the number of email addresses you gain.

Convert visitors into customers.

Last but certainly not least is the end goal: blogging to convert visitors into customers. Now that you’ve established yourself as the expert and built your list, it’s time to start converting.

Just like the other two points above, conversion won’t happen overnight. Here is the basic structure for most businesses that you can follow:

  • Create relevant, interesting content that establishes your business as an expert.
  • Get visitors to sign up to your email list by offering content or an incentive.
  • Offer the next set of incentives: a “soft” push such as a free consultation, low cost report, or discount on your products.

The soft push will be a continual process, so be sure to build up multiple offers in order to offer unique incentives to different customers based on the lists they belong to or the posts you’re creating.

Writing a blogpost is one thing; but understanding the reasons behind why you should blog and how your blog will take your business to the next level is another.
