3 Blogging Tools I Can’t Live Without

Blogging by itself doesn’t take a lot of tools. After you have a proper blog template set up, you really just need to start writing.

However, every good blogger needs a few great tools in their arsenal. Here are my top 3.

1. Google Drive

When you’re collaborating on a blog, Google Drive can be your best friend.

For every blog I help create content for, I’ll use Google Sheets to create the content calendar. There, the team can collaborate on the blogposts that will be written and published, social media posts that are scheduled, and any other miscellaneous ideas for future content posts.

I also love using Google Docs to create blogposts before loading them into whatever Content Management System or blogging platform they’ll find a home in. This way, the team can login and make any edits they need to and I can see what changes were made.

2. Other blogs

Other blogposts (or articles) are an invaluable resource when writing blogposts of your own.

It’s silly to reinvent the wheel and create content that’s already been written, so I always make a habit of Googling the (working) title or subject matter I plan on writing about before I start typing. That way, I not only create unique content, but I can also get a little more inspiration around my post.

You can also use this tip to get inspired even before you know what you want to right about. In other words, try reading your favorite blogs to get an idea for a post when you are ready to write.

3. Thesaurus.com

Last, but certainly not least is the good ol’ Thesaurus. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve used this bad boy when writing posts…especially for clients.

We all tend to fall back on the same language and reuse the same sentence structure when we write. It’s important as a writer or blogger to mix those up and give your content the best flow (and vernacular) that it can have.

A quick thesaurus search will have you mixing it up in no time!

So there you have it…my favorite three blogging tools. What are yours? Tell us about them in the comments below!
