When it comes to content marketing, it can feel overwhelming to know where to start. After all, there are so many options.

Blogs, podcasts, videos, social media, emails…the list goes on and on.

So what’s a boss babe to do?

Why do you need content marketing?

Before we dive into content marketing tips for your business, let’s talk about why it’s so important.

Content marketing is one of the most effective ways to:

▷ Increase your exposure to a new audience
▷ Increase your search engine visibility
▷ Attract new customers
▷ Establish yourself as an expert in your niche
▷ Touch base with your existing clients or customers
▷ Grow your business

As you can see, if you’re not leveraging content marketing, you’re missing out.

5 Content Marketing Options for Female Entrepreneurs

The best way to start content marketing (and increase your content confidence) is by aligning two things:

1️⃣ What content feels best for you to create?
2️⃣ What content does your audience want more of?

By leveraging both, you’ll create valuable content in a place where your audience is craving it.

If you’re not creating content (yet), try starting with one idea from the list below to start with.

1. CREATE A BLOG

In my (totally biased) opinion, a blog is one of the best ways to engage your audience with content. Here are just a few reasons why:

✨ You own your blog (and it’s often attached to your website)
✨ You can easily repurpose blog content for other channels
✨ Your blog will drive search engine traffic
✨ Your blog can help convert visitors

Ultimately, your blog provides the perfect long-form content to add value for your audience and establish you as the go-to expert in your niche.

2. START A PODCAST

A podcast is perfect for the female content creator who loves to talk, but doesn’t necessarily want to be on video. Plus, your audience loves to listen on the go.

With the help of a decent microphone, you don’t need much to get started. All of your audio files will be uploaded to a major podcast directory, like Apple, Google, Spotify, and more.

Then, you can easily repurpose your content into blogposts, social media, and email.

What’s more: podcasts are the perfect place to interview other experts in your niche to expand both of your networks.

3. WRITE GUEST BLOGPOSTS

If you’re looking to build an online following, gather more relevant incoming links, or get more exposure, guest blogposting is a great strategy.

What’s more, you don’t necessarily have to have your own website or blog prior to asking to get featured as a guest blogger.

Simply start creating content and pitching it to blogs that allow guest posts.

4. BUILD AN EMAIL LIST

If I were to start all over with content creation, email marketing would undoubtedly be my first step.

Not only can you start collecting email addresses without any other marketing efforts (like a blog or even a website!), but it still has some of the highest conversion rates of any digital marketing efforts.

(For reference, most digital marketing has a healthy 1-2% conversion rate, while email can get you closer to 15%!)

If you want to build a successful online business, an email list is key. You’ll be able to touch base with subscribers directly and where they spend their time: their email! And you’ll stay top of mind by consistenly showing up.

Pro Tip

ConvertKit is my go-to for all things landing pages, email marketing, and now…sales! The best part? ConvertKit makes everything easy and user-friendly…no need to know any code!

5. ENGAGE WITH SOCIAL MEDIA

Last, but certainly not least, you can engage your audience with social media posts. While social media can be a great way to gain exposure, it’s easy to get overwhelmed, spend too much time, and get caught up in the wrong network(s).

Do your due diligence to find out where your audience likes to hang out and (ultimately) where you can spend more time to engage with your audience.

You can go a step further on social and engage or remarket using ads. Regardless of whether you’re utilizing organic or paid social media, ensure you’re regularly checking your data to create more of the content that’s working and less of what’s not.
